Jake Forbes grew up working for his father in the auction business. At the age of 21, even before graduating from East Carolina University, Jake became a licensed auctioneer. After gaining much experience from working for his father’s auction company and from working as a conventional real estate broker for another firm in Edenton, Jake decided to open a United Country franchise in Perquimans County, North Carolina. United Country allows Jake the opportunity to pursue his passion for both real estate and auctioneering.
Bill Forbes has been a licensed auctioneer in North Carolina since 1982. He is also licensed in South Carolina and Virginia as well. Bill has also been a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina since 1984. Bill has sold many types of property at auction. These include: farm equipment, construction equipment, antiques, household estates (including guns), business liquidations, artwork, fundraisers and probably the only peat mining equipment auction ever held in the United States. In addition, he has sold farmland, timberland, waterfront property and homes successfully as well.
Bill is a member of the National Auctioneers Association where he has taken advantage of their many education specialty courses such as: Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate, Auction Technology Specialist, and Certified Estate Specialist. In addition, he holds the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) and Benefit Auction Specialist (BAS) professional designations issued by NAA.
Bill is also a lifetime member of the Auctioneers Association of North Carolina. He was awarded that organization’s Leadership Award after serving as President, 1998 Grand Champion Auctioneer, inducted in its Hall of Fame and also serving as Chairman of the North Carolina Auctioneer Licensing Board.

Gilbert Jenkins grew up in Rich Square and is a 1988 high school graduate of Northampton County High School-East in Conway, NC. After getting married, he moved to Colerain, NC and now resides in Gates County with his wife where they have raised 3 sons.
